LEO satellites – Low Earth orbit satellites in Ham Radio.
LEO satellites have a circular (or elliptical) orbit at the height of 250–2000 km from the Earth’s surface. The maximum time when the satellite is above the local horizon for an observer on the Earth is up to 20 min. This time is used to transfer data to selected ground stations positioned in the other locations.
Several Low Earth Orbit (LEO) OSCAR satellites use frequency modulation (FM). These are also commonly referred to as “FM LEOs” or the “FM Birds”. Such satellites act as FM amateur radio repeaters that can be communicated by using commonly available amateur radio equipment.
What does 70cmCROSS30W mean?
- 70cm – 70cm band 430-440MHz
- CROSS – CROSS Yagi antenna has horizontal and vertical elements – separated on a single boom, the antenna is mounted in a “+” format
- 30 – 30 elements, 15 elements of horizontal polarization, and 15 elements of vertical polarization
- W – Wideband 430-440MHz

Big Leo Pack Antennas for LEO Satellites 2m14CROSS and 70cm30CROSS. “Big Leo Pack” with added RHCP Kit.
Antennas-Amplifiers Product Benefits. A Major advance in antenna design.
- F/B and G/T superiority.
All antennas have been calculated using state-of-the-art full 3D EM modeling software including the influence of the boom, bracket, baluns, and connectors. The performance of antennas designed using these techniques is exceptional, far better than antennas designed using the EZNEC program.
- No tuning antennas.
Before dispatch, we assemble and test each antenna’s characteristics. No need to tune any element to get perfect SWR on the intended frequency range. Everything is pre-tuned.
- Easy to set up.
Everything is labeled, just put number to number. Everything is included in the box: Antenna, balun, bracket, and guy rope support if needed. Yours is to assemble and have fun!
- Mechanical properties.
We believe that our antennas are the world’s strongest antennas and are mechanically constructed much better than any antennas from other manufacturers.
The old name of the antenna was PA432-CROSS-30-3.5AP

Robert –
Just had the first EME QSO with the new antenna stack, see screenshot.
Big difference, received NC1I with -10.
I am very happy with your antennas.

Robert –
I started in the world of EME with one cross Yagi from Antennas-Amplifiers manually aimed at the moon and had my first EME QSO soon after that with only 60 Watts at the antenna. I ordered a second identical antenna a little later, set up a rotator with moon tracking and they helped me calculate the optimum distance for horizontal stacking (baying) of the two antennas and suggested the best combiners and coax cable routing. The little array is working like a charm and I had three more EME initials and a few other EME QSOs, still with only 60 Watts.
