Before we talk about ADS-B Omnidirectional antenna, let’s first have a closer look at ADS-B in general. Air traffic control system known as ADS-B stands for “Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast”. It is used to indicate airspace aircraft position. ADS-B antenna types

There are two types of ADS-B antennas.

1. Directional 1090MHz ADS-B antenna, which is described in more detail in ADS-B Super Yagi Antenna and ADS-B 2-Way and 4-Way Combiner. They cover a portion of the sky but can reach very far and in some instances beyond the horizon.
2. Omnidirectional antenna – Omni antenna is a class of antennas that radiates equal power in all directions perpendicular to an axis, with power varying with an angle to the axis (elevation angle). In other words, Omni antennas cover 360° and the power is distributed on all sides.
