LEO Kit-Pack 2m and 70cm CROSS RHCP Yagi for Satellites LEO

LEO satellites – Low Earth orbit satellites in Ham Radio.

LEO satellites have a circular (or elliptical) orbit at a height of 250–2000 km from the Earth’s surface. The maximum time during which a satellite is above the local horizon for an observer on the Earth is up to 20 min. This time is used to transfer data, images, and photographs to selected ground stations positioned in strategic locations.

A number of low earth orbit (LEO) OSCAR satellites use frequency modulation (FM). These are also commonly referred to as “FM LEOs” or the “FM Birds”. Such satellites act as FM amateur radio repeaters that can be communicated by using commonly available amateur radio equipment.

Used Ham Radio antennas:

1. PA144-CROSS-8-1.7A – 2m CROSS antenna with 4 + 4 elements on 1.7m boom.
2. PA432-CROSS-16-1.7A – 70 cm cross antenna with 8 + 8 elements on 1.7 meter boom.
3. 144 – 146 MHz RHCP Kit used to connect two connectors on a 2m cross antenna and make right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) which is best for satellite communication.
4. 430 – 440 MHz RHCP Kit uses two connectors on a 70cm CROSS antenna and makes right-handed circular polarization (RHCP).
5. Brackets for antennas, Baluns, and Connectors are all included in the LEO PACK.

Optional: 40 mm aluminum pipe is possible by order.

2m CROSS antenna characteristics:

Frequency: 144 – 146 MHz
Gain: 9.4 dB
F / B: 20 dB
SWR is better than 1.2

70 cm CROSS antenna characteristics:

Frequency: 432 – 440 MHz
